Big Walker Lookout: At the top of the mountain in Ceres, Va and recently inducted into the 'Crooked Road' tour ! Ron Kime is the owner and is always smiling and making every one feel welcome. A great place to eat homemade ice cream, shop for souvenirs and listen to some old time music from the porch every Sunday ! The image above was taken at Big Walker Lookouts overlook. This scene is right across the road from the tower, so be sure and check it out when you go. Sunset is my fav time to view these mountains, but I bet sunrise is amazing as well!
Jim Lloyds Barber shop: I hope jim gets on the 'Crooked Road' tour list soon as his barber shop is always full of music and laughter and just a fun place to drop in and shoot the bull and play a tune. Located in Rural Retreat, Va. For a fun jam , visit the barber shop the evening of Black Friday for the annual jam session !
The Matterhorn Lounge and Bier Garden; Located behind Shoney's in Wytheville, Va. Y'all come out for a fun jam session every 2nd Tuesday of every month starting around 6-7 PM. There are also some concerts in the summer in the outside Bier Garden, so come out and join the locals , we are friendly and love company! Larry, the bartender , is always a gracious host! Update : the Matterhorn has now added 'Open Mike Night' to their schedule and it is on the 4th Tuesday
Floyd Country Store: Located in Floyd , Virginia . Sometimes affectionately referred to as the Hippy Town, because of the eccentric and interesting businesses and residents. The Country Store is host to some wonderful old time , blue grass, folk and alternative music ! I photographed the "Roots of America " tour there a few years ago. Don't miss a visit to this charming town!
Seven Sisters Brewery: Come hear Live music at the new brew pub in Wytheville, Va. It's right on Main Street. Good craft beer and food!
