Have been trying to think of a good cover for the book and I knew I wanted it to be of someone, well, "Singing At The Clothesline" and I had tried a couple of ideas, but either the model was not crazy about it or it just wasn't working , so been waiting for the right opportunity to arise !
I had done an interview with Erica Joy Rising a few months back. She is known in the music world as 'Big Momma Joy' and as soon as I met her I was impressed with her sort of timeless country mom look. She has that great tall thin stature and strong independent style that I wanted to project on the cover. A sort of cross between pioneer woman , feminist , & organic mountain woman that still hangs her laundry in the sun!
I wanted the session to take place at my favorite location, 'The Virginia House on Reed Creek Farm' as it just has the greatest background from every angle ! However, there was no clothesline there . ( Although I'm sure there was at some time )
I called my good friend 'Qtip' (Quinten Boyles) to assist with clothesline hanging and we went and wandered around the farm until we found two trees close enough together to run the line and have a great view of the old farm house in the back ground.
Erica has a little 5 year old daughter . Josie, who will add a lot of energy and extra story quality to the cover.
I'm looking forward to doing the session tonight and sharing the image with y'all !
Thank you Qtip, Big Momma and Josie for your help!!
